WYDOT crews will be milling and paving WYO 22 starting the evening of Monday, August 10th
JACKSON, Wyo. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and contract crews from Avail Valley Construction will milling and paving sections of Wyoming State Highway 22 in Teton County beginning the evening of Monday, August 10th. Work will take place at various locations on WYO 22 from the intersection with US 26/89/189/191 (the Y intersection) to the base of Teton Pass. During daytime hours, crews will maintain two lanes of travel, one in each direction.
Work that requires traffic to be reduced to one, alternating lane will take place at night, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. While milling and paving operations are underway at night, traffic will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be aware that delays could be up to 20 minutes and adjust their schedules accordingly. The work is scheduled to last roughly four weeks but will be subject to change and weather dependent.
“We have asked the contractor to do much of the milling and paving at night, knowing that reducing the traffic to only one lane during the day would completely congest the area,” WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond said.
Drivers are advised to be aware of slower moving construction traffic during the day and be aware of roadside workers. Drivers traveling at night should be prepared for stop delays and watch for flaggers.
“We will still be working in the area during the day, but we will maintain one lane of travel in each direction. The single lane closure will only be at night. But we hope that people will stay alert and watch for construction work and people both day and night,” Hammond said.
The work is part of a district wide roadway patching project that involves milling and placing asphalt pavement on WYO 22 at various locations in Teton County. The project completion date is set for Oct. 31, 2026. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. WYDOT is committed to providing the public with update information as work progresses.
